Piano lessons in North Orange County for adults that centers student creation through composition, improvisation, and music production.
My music lessons equip you with the tools you need to explore and learn the music you care about. My adult piano program starts with four pillars as foundations upon which to build your musical voice.
Every lesson is a one on one session between you and myself. This allows our lessons to be tailored to your needs, and gives you the focused time you need to flourish as a modern musician.
Lessons are focused on your interests & passions. Whether that be jazz, classical, pop, metal, or something else entirely, our goal is to synthesize your inspirations into your unique musical voice.
Learn how to turn a page of notes into music, a key step in becoming an independent and capable musician. Being able to read music allows you to play works written far away and throughout time, and push the clock forward by writing music of your own.
Music is an act of creating community. Performance is the last step in a cycle, a culmination of your dedication towards your music and the music you love. Our bi-yearly recitals are an opportunity to bring friends & family together, and build confidence in your musical voice.
Your life-long experiences with music have shaped what "music" means to you. My unique Integrated Creativity approach focuses on helping you refine your wide musical inspirations into a distinctive voice, which you'll learn to express through three key areas.
Learn to make music in the moment, where each note is new territory to be explored. Versed in improvisation, you'll be able to come up with songs on the spot, solo on a jazz tune, and have a musical conversation with other musicians.
Develop a unique compositional style, and demystify the intricacies of melody, harmony, rhythm, and form. The music you write will be integrated into piano practice, where we'll focus on learning how to play your original pieces, in addition to the music you love.
In the modern era, a well-rounded musician should know how to record, produce, mix, and master their own music. You'll learn how to use industry standard software like Logic & Musescore to notate your compositions, record your playing correctly, and create electronic-based music.
Learning is a constant process, and shouldn't stop when the lesson is over. Mycelium Music Lessons offers multiple avenues for you to be proactive in your musical development, in addition to our recurring lesson time.
Participate in a community of creative musicians. Every week, you'll have the opportunity to share some aspect of your musicianship, in the form of a video submission: a piece you're learning, a song you're writing, or an improvisation. You'll receive feedback from peers, and take inspiration from their work.
Lessons include free access to Vivid Practice, an app that helps you learn with proven, science-backed practice methods. Vivid Practice also includes your weekly assignments, and allows you to ask me questions directly about your music, before your next lesson.
Twice a year, you'll have the opportunity to perform your music for friends & family, building confidence in your art and giving you concrete goals for your musical development. At recitals, you'll have the opportunity to premiere your original compositions, where you can share your music with a receptive audience.
